Adult Swimming Lessons (Stay tuned for more!)
While many of our clients have familiarity with the pool and have experience swimming, we frequently have clients who have not had the opportunity to learn swim or are not comfortable in the water. For many adults trying to learn to swim in a mixed age group or a cold lap pool is a daunting experience. In response to this need we are developing an adult only water safety and swim class that will cover many of the basic water skills to allow safe and free movement in the pool.
These classes are for individuals aged 18+ and open to the community. Students do not need to be involved in the graduate program or participating in physical therapy. Student will need to be able to safely enter and exit the pool without assistance.
Classes
Class programing is based on Red Cross level 1 through 3 skills. Classes will meet 1 to 2 times per week, with each series lasting 4 to 6 weeks. Initial classes will focus on fundamental skills in the pool, such as breath control, floating on the stomach and back, submerging the face, and gliding in the water. For those that wish to continue later classes will incorporate basic swim strokes such as breaststroke and freestyle and treading water. Students must be able to complete all skills in the series to progress to the next series and may only progress with instructor approval. Students should wear a bathing suit, and bring goggles, a towel, and shoes to wear on the pool deck (no shoes in the pool for swim class).
